Paramount in Centre Point, London – Great Wine Places

Last night, we went to the Centre Point restaurant Paramount, hoping for an excellent panoramic view from the Viewing Gallery and a great wine and dine experience. We had a lovely 2008 Forrest Estate Pinot Noir (from Marlborough, New Zealand), full of summer fruits bringing you the feel of warmer weather inside, despite the dense fog outside the windows. The day probably saw the most fog of any day so far this year – leading to grey view of the London landscape. However, despite the weather, the view and place lived up to expectations, and the wine was probably the tastiest Pinot Noir we’ve had for a long time.

For Paramount, I would certainly take visiting friends and family there as part of a ‘London tour’, but would probably advice most people not to go there hungry, as they are a bit overpriced with small servings – just like many of the more posh restaurants in large cities are. The drinks are however up to standard, although the viewing gallery has a limited menu (e.g. only part of the wine list is available up there, and no cocktails without champagne) – and the London panoramic views are only rivalled by the London Eye.

For anyone travelling to London, I would suggest going in daylight, possibly around the time the sun sets,  and try to avoid the foggiest day of the year…
